A linear stepper motor is an electromechanical device that directly produces linear motion without intermediate mechanical transmissions like screws or belts. It combines the discrete motion steps of a stepper motor with a planar or tubular mechanical layout to create precise linear displacement.

Linear stepper motors are typically composed of: 

• Forcer (moving part) 
• Platen (stationary part) 
• Magnetic or electromagnetic winding structures 

By energizing the motor windings in specific sequences, the forcer moves incrementally along the platen, achieving high levels of precision and repeatability.
