Description:

LeanMotor DM542 is a fully digital stepper motor driver that uses advanced DSP control algorithms and the latest motion control technology. It is easy to use and it can be used to drive 2-phase hybrid stepping motors smoothly with less heat and noise. It works with 18 - 60VDC voltage and can provide max 4.2A peak current. It achieves exceptional system smoothness, delivering optimal torque while eliminating mid-range instability. The driver's auto-identification and auto-configuration features allow quick setup for different motors. Compared to traditional analog drives, the DM542 operates with less noise, lower heat generation, and smoother movement. These advantages make the DM542 ideal for high-performance applications, particularly as a driver for Nema 17, Nema 23 and Nema 24 stepping motors.

DM542 Driver Features:

1. Average current control, 2-phase sinusoidal output current drive

2. 8 channels output phase current setting

3. Offline command input terminal

4. High hording torque under high speed

5. High performance, low price

6. Opto-isolated signal I/O

7. Overvoltage, under voltage, overcorrect, phase short circuit protection

8. 15 channels subdivision and automatic idle-current reduction

9. Motor torque is related with speed, but not related with step/revolution

The connection between the driver and the two-phase hybrid stepping motor is four-wire. The motor windings are connected in parallel and in series, and the connection method is good. The high-speed performance is good, but the driver current is large (1.73 times the motor winding current). The drive current is equal to the motor winding current.

Interface Signal Description:

VDCDC power input: 18 ~60V
Resetting a drive fault when the offline enable signal is active prohibits any valid pulses, the drive's output power elements are switched off and the motor has no holding torque.

DIP Switch Setting:

In order to drive different torque stepping motors, users can set the output phase current of the driver through the dip switches SW1, SW2, SW3 on the driver panel, the output current corresponding to each switch position, the output current corresponding to different models of the driver is different, see the table below:

SW4: ‘OFF’ is with half-current function; ‘ON’ is without half-current function.

Half-current function means that after 500ms of no stepping pulse, the driver output current is automatically reduced to 70% of the rated output current, which is used to prevent the motor from heating up.
